Through the eyes of a monster by Acrylicdreams Through the eyes of a monster by Acrylicdreams
Here's my entry for the Witcher contest, which I recognized only about a week ago.
I didn't know the game before, but I really liked the story and the images of it. Anyway, it took a few days to get the right inspiration and I even worried if I could finish it in time, but now, after four days of work it's finished!
I'm glad that I've made it (almost) in the last minute!

I've painted this one traditionally with acrylics on cardboard (about 54 cm x 43 cm).
It took about 25 to 30 hours of painting plus several hours for scanning and a bit Photoshop work (just the colors and the "net-clothes" of Triss).

Edit:
I weren't able to paint all the details I intended to put into this image because there wasn't enough time left to the end of the contest, so I finished it for myself and scanned it again.
Here you can see the finished version (without computer help - Triss wears slightly less clothes here): [link]

Edit2:
I just wondered about the submitting date - it says October 9 - is that PST? I looked at several PST clocks in the web when I submitted it and they said about 11:35 P.M. October 8th.
Can anyone tell me?

In the book or game? Because in the first game she wore one in the prologue.

In the book. She had an awful scar on her breast and that's why :D

Yes, it's her. I didn't know the game before and just painted her the way she looked in the reference images given to the contest.

Fantastic work!
Especially considering you were not familiar with the game. There was a place remarkably similar to what you portrayed and the mood is perfect!
Also it shows you did a pretty thorough research on everything.

Very nice one! Escpecially imagining You've done it all the traditional way.. wow..

I've read all the Witcher books, but not sure if I remember this scene, but the picture is great!

P.S. - looked at the no-photoshoped version, but I can't tell which one I like more - the one with net or without.. Anyways, bth are great!

Hey great style! :) buuut there's one (maybe)mistake, cause Geralt said (in one book of Witcher series) that he don't want to use a light in a fight cause it throws shadows and confuses everyone (even the witcher)... I had to say it ^_^ *poke poke* but still, this picture (and idea! :)) is really something great to look at :)

Thank you very much!
Well, I'm not that much into that game (I've even heard of it the first time I recognized the contest), so some mistake had to happen... ;)
But the torch is important for the composition and lighting in the image, otherwise it wouldn't have the same dramatic.
So, I think it's not that important ... ;)
Thanks for the compliment anyway!

Wow.

To quote ~Oktow, "sory my friends... i like youre triss.. but not youre geralt... but overall i like youre work.... god luck... "

However, as far as Triss goes, I think she is more stunning in the fishnet, not less. Go figure...Both images are really incredible, though.

The artwork is astounding. However- the girl's pose completely throws me off. It doesn't look combat-related in the least. If not for the sparks, it'd be almost as if she were trying to seduce the monster.

Thank you!

You should see the original painting (without the net on Triss), it looks even more seductive! And I'm going to add a few details to it (I'll upload that version in "Fantasy" later)

The dark hands are really awesome, which extend the meaning of this picture to a higher stage....
And, as always, the colour of the light on everything is perfect...

I will also upload a version without the Photoshop-made net on the girl, which looks even more seductive, I think. ;)
