Mutually assured destruction by Acrylicdreams Mutually assured destruction by Acrylicdreams
I've done this for the debut album of technical Death Metal project Anatomy Of Violence from Canada.
It's basically a photomanip but with many painted and overpainted areas.
Stock (most of the plants and textures in the foreground) is from CG Textures and my own photos (sky and skulls) put together and filtered in Photoshop, rest is painted in Corel Painter.
This was quite different to what I usually do - I thought I would safe time when usinig photos instead of painting everything or almost everything, but I think in the end it took as much hours as it would have taken to paint it... :D

My fifth DD!
Thanks a lot to all of you for your kind comments and especially to mintyy and Aeirmid for suggesting and featuring my image!

Nicely done. It's simultaneously a beautiful and terrifying visage.

Great concept and execution! :D

I especially love the rusty car and the flowers growing out of the skeleton. :)

(Nice title by the way!)

Albeit presenting such a lush, green, verdant and generally beautiful scene, the presence of the skeleton, the car and generally the other major hints that mankind was once dominant give it a chilling undertone. Well done.

Cities would look a lot better if they all looked like this, overgrown. Minus the skeletons, perhaps. ;-)

I'm not sure about oak, but pine, spruce and ash can grow just about anywhere, in the tiniest cracks of abandoned buildings. And not so abandoned buildings, if they provide enough moisture and compost material.

I would love to see a scene like this in real life. :3 ...except those bones. Those plants aren't quite grown enough for the bones to have been there for long. x.x But 500+ foot ivy towers are great. :3

Makes me remind of a passage of 'the Stand' of Stephen King when Larry meets Nadine in New York after all went down.
Nice apocalyptic interpretation of what could be the end of our civilazation , but with Nature regaining its original splendeur!
