This is my contribution to the Kerrang! contest (designing a cover for the Iron Maiden tribute sampler "Maiden Heaven")

I'm a big fan of Maiden and Eddie for 18 years now and I always wanted to make another Eddie-painting (I painted Maiden's mascot the last time for a friend in 1999).
Eddie's face was originally painted by the great Derek Riggs. I painted my own version of him, but wanted to get close to his look in the late 80s.

Acrylics on cardboard, 30 cm x 30 cm, done within 3 or 4 days from concept to finish (less than 20 hours of work)

Well your style is very similar to Derek's... fantasy driven lighting and charicature drawing. Extremely cool.
