The scenery comes completely out of my imagination, but I tried to do the design of the polyps as close as possible to Lovecraft´s description in "The Shadow Out Of Time" (see description below).
Acrylics on cardboard, 30 cm x 35 cm (and about 20 hours of work)
Here´s the description:
The basis of the fear was a horrible elder race of half-polypous, utterly alien entities which had come through space from immeasurably distant universes and had dominated the earth and three other solar planets about 600 million years ago....
...There were veiled suggestions of a monstrous plasticity, and of temporary lapses of visibility, while other fragmentary whispers referred to their control and military use of great winds. Singular whistling noises, and colossal footprints made up of five circular toe marks, seemed also to be associated with them.
Well, concerning the "footprints" I´ve created a very loose own interpretation of that (but just think of alien polyps with feet with 5 toes - would look rediculous, I think )
Speaking of said awesome story, have you perchane ever heard of the Darkest of the Hillside Thickets? A Vancouver punk/metal/funk band that sings about Lovecraft stuff (mostly) and their 2007 album is called The Shadow Out of Tim and is a musical re-telling of above mentioned tale.
The track Chapter Nine: Ride the Polyps is demented as all hell, catchy and creepy.

I know art is subjective, but I still none the less feel that Mimes should be illegal.
I've said it once and I'll say it again you are a legend and a credit to the deiantart community. you keep pleasently surprising me with each new piece that you create.
I think lovecraft would like this one too.

Through the vail of shadows in the darkness where nightmares hide, on an island of despair upon an alter of elderitch light, bringing forth terror and madness from pure thought. That is where you shall find me.
Wow, another amazing piece! I love the half-plastic-half-organic look of this alien badass, it's awesome.
The colors are also pretty unique - green usually emits a sense of relaxation and this is the complete opposite. Smart move!
Anyway, great work,

It is said that in Ulthar, which lies beyond the river Skai, no man may kill a cat; and this I can verily believe as I gaze upon him who sitteth purring before the fire. For the cat is cryptic, and close to strange things which men cannot see.

you have a very fertile imagination if not mind blowing! another amazing thing is very few people can express and paint what's within their mind, and you are one of them. I admire your talent ..congrats!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Be literate. Save lives.
I am a bit of a Lovecraft fanboy I admit.
That aside the picture is just well done.
